A "good practice" is a way of carrying out an activity that has proven its effectiveness in different contexts and situations, and therefore is institutionally recognized as the optimal course of action.
In this section we will not only showcase good practices but replicable experiences in general. Therefore, some of the experiences shown might not accomplish the definition of a good practice but are considered by peer reviewers to have useful lessons learned and recommendations to share with others who may be looking to embark on similar initiatives.
Criteria
For an experience, initiative or activity to be eligible for publication on the Migration Network Hub must accomplish certain criteria.
Applied
The practice should have been implemented at the global, regional or national level, rather than merely being a proposal or theory.
Relevant
The practice should be linked to the implementation of specific goals and actions of the Los Angeles Declaration, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) Objectives.
Coherent
The practice should align with the guiding principles of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM), such as a people-centered approach, pan-social and pangovernmental focus, international cooperation, national sovereignty, rule of law, sustainable development, human rights, gender equality, and children's rights.
Innovative
It should present a new approach that could inspire others to develop similar practices.
Replicable
Potentially adaptable to different national and regional contexts, documented to facilitate transfer and learning.
Transversal
Consistent with the comprehensive vision of the GCM, addressing the benefits and challenges of migration for individuals and communities.
Timely
Preferably implemented after the adoption of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) in December 2018.
